PATUNDAS BETWEEN PASSU AND BATURA GLACIERS

This stunning trek crosses the Passu glacier for views of the Batura (7th longest glacier in the world) and Passu Glaciers from the advantage of the Patundas . The Patundas is a summer pasture with an altitude of above 4000 meters. Villagers of Ghulkin take their cattle to this pasture from June to August. The pasture has spectaular views  of Passu Peak 7284m, Batura Peak 7500m, Shishper 7619m, Dasteghil Sar 7885, Momhil Sar 7342 and Rakaposhi with the height of 7788m. Our trek takes us alongside the Batura Glacier to Summer House where we can look back and up at Batura Glacier and the Batura Range. The next day we trek down close past the snout of the Batura Glacier and reach Passu village on foot. Passu itself has spectacular views that reach from large rounded river rocks up to the massive jagged and sometimes cloud shrouded kattle peaks.

As we head home we pass again through Hunza this time staying at a hotel above the town of Altit for the best Hunza sunrise and sunset views. On Day 11 we can enjoy a stop in Minapin village on the way back to Gilgit and it may be possible to catch a practice polo match in the afternoon. The return to Rawalpindi/Islamabad is on the Karakorum Highway which is known as the eigth wonder of the world.

The trek starts at Borit Lake and goes through Passugar, Luzhdar and Patundas and along the glaciers. This is an easy and short trek recommended for all ages and does not require any good physical condition.
